Kings Heath Voices perform at BBC Radio Northampton Carol and Lesson Service

Northampton’s Kings Heath Primary Academy, part of the David Ross Education Trust, saw their school choir perform in the BBC Radio Northampton Carol and Lessons Service at All Saints Church in Northampton.

The school choir performed a number of traditional Christmas carols during the service, which was conducted by The David Ross Education Trust’s Director of Music Simon Toyne. The service recording will be aired on BBC Radio Northampton on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

A parent at Kings Heath Primary Academy said: “The children sounded beautiful throughout their performance. Their singing has truly put me in the festive spirit.”

The primary school’s choir group, Kings Heath Voices, has gone from strength to strength since its establishment in 2016. Not only have pupils from Kings Heath Voices been invited to perform at a number of prestigious events such as the BBC Radio Northampton Carol and Lesson Service, but the school has seen an increase in Year 6 SATs results from 31% combined (reading, writing and Maths), to 64% combined.

Kim Duff, Headteacher at Kings Heath Primary Academy, said: “Music is at the heart of everything we do at Kings Heath to help transform our pupils’ educational experiences. We encourage our children to engage in music to develop their aspirations and create a vibrant school community.

“It was an absolute honour to have Kings Heath Voices perform as part of BBC Radio Northampton Carol Service. They performed with such energy throughout and have been left inspired by the experience.”
