Early Years Term 5 - Treasure
The terms topic of ‘Treasure has seen the children explore and talk about under the sea animals and pirates. The children had a fantastic pirate themed day where they could come to school dressed as a pirate. The children could explore the clay and then follow the instructions to create a medallion to take home. The children learnt pirate songs and made pirate flags. It was a wonderful day!
The children continue to make great progress in the Read, Write Inc programme and please continue to support through helping them complete their home learning. During this term we have seen a great increase in the number of children who are being heard at least 3 times read at home and winning their Perfect Purple ticket. Thank you for your continued support which has enabled Reception to be Perfect Purple winners in assembly many times this term!
The children have been learning how to write and follow instructions. They have been using bossy words to write instructions on how to make toast, pour a drink of squash and how to wash your hands. Can your child tell you what bossy words are?
The Rectangles and circles groups from Carle Class have enjoyed their forest school experiences with Miss Allen whilst in our outside learning space the children have been busy looking at the changes in the weather, den building and accessing the maths and writing sheds. In PE the children have been learning about athletics and playing team games.
This term has also been Great Britain day where the children could come to school dressed as famous British person or in the colours red white and blue. We made scones and flags and listened to the National Anthem.
What a busy term of learning we have had in Reception and thank you for your continued support!
